The clay soil is history to pottery making by the Crievellones, and the mango trees have their own magical stories, planted by the cultivator auntie Ruth Gouviea in 1961. In the late 1940s Tutu Fran worked as a nurse on Kauai and Big Island. In Waimea on south shore of Kauai she worked with Doctor Brennecke delivering babies, and at Hilo Hospital where she befriended Johnny Silva and his ohana and Crivellone family who grew up in the house and help plant the mango trees.
Mike has been hanging under the mango since the 1980s and now in 2026 has the task of building a house addition without disturbing the gouviea mango. Once the construction is pau, we will begin to share the space and launch the mountain - beach connection with Pau Hau (done with snow).
